Fruits and Vegetables
We grow about 100 Acres of Fruit and 15 Acres of Vegetables. We have a range of Orchard fruit, Berries, Heirloom Tomatoes, and Vegetables. We have branched out to diversify our crops, while still holding onto our traditions and quality. Contact us if you have any questions on what we grow, or how we grow them!
Orchard Fruits
We are mainly a fruit farm. We have Apples, Peaches, Nectarines, Sweet Cherries, Sour Cherries, Summer Plums, Italian Plums, and Pears.
Berries and Grapes
We have your favorites, and maybe some that you have never heard of! Strawberreis, Raspberries, Blackberries, Concord Grapes, Currants, Black Currants, Gooseberries, and Blueberries.
Vegetables
Our star Vegetable isn't really a vegetable at all, but it is a yearly crop, unlike the rest of our fruit: Heirloom Tomatoes. We have over a dozen varieties ranging from Green Zebra, to White Beauty. We offer samples, so come try!
We aso have Peppers (Bell, Green Frying, Jalepenoes, Habenero), Eggplant, Zuccini, Yellow Squash, Pumpkins, Sugar Pumpkins, Tomatoes, and eucalyptus!
Spray Policy
We use a system called Integrated Pest Management or IPM. This means that we are small enough to find the threats in our Orchard before we spray for them. We don't just assume that the threat is there.
Cornell runs a research farm in our town called the Hudson Valley Lab that is staffed by an entomologist and a plant pathologist that constantly monitor their farm for any Disease or Insect threats that might affect our area. We receive daily e-mails from them that update us on this information.
We also hire a Licensed Certified Crop Consultant as a scout that checks our orchard at least once a week throughout the growing season for signs of those threats. That's when we spray for them. If we hear that there are reports of a pest or disease in our area that could cause a threat, but we don't find any signs of this in our Orchard, we are not going to spray for it.
Not only is spray expensive, it is also time consuming. If we can save money and time, we will do that in anyway we can. Our philosophy is; we only spray when we have to and we are sure that we have to.
