Our family has been farming this land for six generations -- since 1855, and as times have changed, so have we. My husband, Fred, and I started going to Greenmarket in Brooklyn, NY in 1984 and still continue to do so to this day. We also participate in local markets at Vassar College and in Highland, NY. The Markets are a great way to reach out to our community and connect with more people, but we love it when people come to us and see our farm first hand.
Fred and I opened our farmstand in 1981 with myself in the front yard selling out of a couple of wooden crates. We soon expanded in more ways than one! Our oldest, Christy, was only one at the time, three more kids later, and we had our farm crew. Our whole family pitched in, and now our products range from baked goods to crafts.
Much has changed over the years, Fred's parents retired (though they are still on the farm everyday) and all of our kids are working on the farm. Christy is starting this year with "Christy's Craft Corner" where she will do a craft each weekend with the kids. Albert has "Paisley's Pumpkin Patch" down the road where you can pick your own pumpkins. Albert's wife, Kortney, is making all the Caramel Apples for the fall. Jennie is running our biggest local market and runs the greenhouse in the spring. Becky is working full time in the office and makes the candy apples for fall.
My sisters are still doing all the baking. Marilyn's Pies and Dorothy (who you see at the stand each year!) makes the muffins, breads, and of course, those apple cider doughnuts.
We have pick your own apples and pumpkins. At the stand. we sell everything you could imagine. from soup mixes and recipe books to classic candies and fall decorations. We always have our fresh pressed apple cider and plenty of fruits and vegitables that we grow ourself.
We have hayrides, a petting zoo, children's fun house, hayjump, and spooky tunnels. We would love it if you came by to see our farm and meet our family!!
